Dear Readers,

Recently, a local soldier was brought home in a body bag. The community support for the family seemed to be of a generous nature. I knew this man as a young boy, our mothers were high school friends. The whole deal has been pretty rough on the family and on the locals.

Over the course of the last week, I have seen a great many comments in the local paper and on the obit guest book that says something like “thank you adam for fighting for our freedom.”

and I started thinking…We are free over here. There hasn’t really been a threat of our freedom in a great many years. Continue Reading »
